William J. Nolan is the Past President, Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge No. 7. He was appointed Assistant Chief Court Services Cook County Sheriffs Department June 1, 2002–Present.
Elected President of Chicago Lodge 7 March 1993 reelected May 1996 and reelected for final term March 1999-2002. Chicago Lodge 7 has approximately 17000 members and is the largest Lodge in the Fraternal Order of Police.
Chicago Police Officer since December 1959.
Member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 since it was chartered in 1963.
Served on the Lodge 7 Negotiating Team that negotiated the first contract with the City of Chicago and also served on subsequent Negotiating Teams.
Served as Treasurer for Lodge 7 from 1981-1993 and as Sgt at Arms from 1974-1981.
Served as the Fraternal Order of Police National Treasurer from 1987-1995.
Served on numerous committees for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodges on the National State and Local Levels dealing with Labor and Finances.
Attended numerous Labor Seminars and United States Department of Labor Seminars.
Active in easterseals since 1973.
Served as National Chairman of the Grand Lodge Fraternal Order of Police Easter Seals Committee from 1979 to 1987.
Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Chicago Easter Seal Society 2001-2007.
Co-Founder and Vice President of Dreams for Kids an Illinois not for profit charitable organization founded in 1990.
Member of the Advisory Board of Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital Center.
Named Man of the Year by the Emerald Society of Illinois in 1990.
Presidents’ Award from Retired Police Officers Association in 1996.
Named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Illinois State Crime Commission in 1997.
Italian American Police Association – Man of the Year 2009.
Illinois State Bar Association – Law Enforcement Award 2011.
Recipient of Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital Centers 2001 Recognition Award.
