Easterseals Respite and Self Advocacy Program

SELF-ADVOCACY & RESPITE PROGRAM

APPLICATION

Easterseals Coastal Fairfield County (CFC) Self-Advocacy & Respite Program provides recreational and self-advocacy opportunities for individuals and families with disabilities.  The program offers a chance for individuals to enjoy their time, meet new people, and participate in a variety of fun activities, while providing relief to caregivers.

Our Self-Advocacy & Respite Program is multifaceted, comprehensive and innovative.  Fairfield County has a tremendous need for recreation/leisure and self-advocacy services. We have the enthusiastic cooperation of the Easterseals, Inc. family, as well as community groups and other private organizations.

Strengthening integration of people with autism and developmental disabilities will require a collaborative effort, bringing together individuals with disabilities, provider programs, and the broader community to address the barriers that keep people with severe disabilities from effectively pursuing equal opportunities.

Through Community Experience, we facilitate community integration of participants through community service, therapeutic recreation, leisure, and functional daily activities.

The program is designed to maximize independent functioning by enhancing skills in the areas of socialization, communication, physical and emotional maturation and planning leisure time activities.

CITIZENSHIP AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT will help people with disabilities play a stronger role in civic life by:

PEER SUPPORT AND SELF-DETERMINATION will help individuals establish control over their lives by:

SELF-ADVOCACY will encourage individuals to:

Our Mission: Easterseals CFC provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work, and play in their communities.
