Scott Webb, Executive Director
In 2017, we hit the ground running… in just nine months as the Executive Director, along with guidance from our board members and assistance from our leadership team, we’ve strategically expanded our staffing and streamlined our operational efforts. And for the first time in its history, Easterseals Central California is now uniquely positioned to reach twice as many individuals with disabilities and expand services in all ten counties within our region.
This year, we also piloted four new camp sessions dedicated to veterans and the unique issues they face upon returning home from duty (physical limitations, PTDS, financial, marital, employment difficulties). Through a partnership with Our Hereos' Dreams (a veteran operated program), we've been able to provide life-changing, and in many cases life-saving, interventions for more than 80 veterans on the brink of suicide. More sessions coming in 2018.
Perhaps equally noteworthy is our current undertaking – the opening of two centers (in Aptos and Fresno) to better meet the needs of our children and families who need services on-site. Extensive remodeling is taking place at both locations to accommodate intensive autism and behavior intervention services for clients 18 months to 22 years of age. In addition to the center expansions, we’ve also been busy with the third phase of our Remember and Restore campaign at Camp Harmon.
Finally, so many of our clients, community partners and families have spoken up! And we're listening... stay tuned in 2018, as our plans for expanding services are even more ambitious than this year. Coming in 2018:
As you may already know, I’m sincerely passionate about improving opportunities for those living with autism and other special needs so they may choose how to live, learn, work and play in their own communities. I hope you will stay connected with us. Please stop-in to one of our locations for a personal tour, soon... our centers will be open in early November.
