Volunteer Spotlight - Jeff Heacox

Volunteer Jeff Heacox
Windstream and Easterseals Arkansas have a very long relationship of both corporate sponsorship and volunteer efforts by individuals. At the 2017 Annual Meeting, Jeff Heacox, who works in Windstream's Regulatory Compliance Department, was honored for his craftsmanship at Children's Rehabilitation Center.
George Cole, VP-Information Technology at Windstream and an Easterseals Arkansas board member, shares that he was excited to learn that Jeff earned this honor. Jeff has donated his time and efforts in many ways over the years. His key contributions are the furniture and appliances that he builds from scratch to suit the needs of Easterseals clients.
"As a fellow Windstream associate, I am extremely proud of the work that Jeff and the Regulatory team have donated to Easterseals," George says. "On behalf of the Easterseals Board of Directors, I want to say that we are very thankful to all of you for everything that you do to support our mission."
Specifically, Jeff is responsible for the swinging gates in the CRC cafeteria. When she presented the award to Jeff at the Annual Meeting, Easterseals Arkansas Volunteer & Community Coordinator Breda Turner said she couldn't imagine the skill and time it took to makes these and make them work.
"And that is not the only construction to his credit," Breda shared. "He has also made the special desks and chairs for the children with autism in the Preschool. The wood he used, the finishing and the quality of his work is truly amazing. When we discovered that some of the children could use their knees to lift up the desk, he made another one, this one with longer legs. And it was just as beautifully made and finished."
"We are really lucky to have Jeff," Breda added, jokingly warning that he better watch out as people might be thinking of other projects to add to his volunteer to-do list!
