Elizabeth City, NC, October 11, 2017
Every day children with intellectual and developmental disabilities attend this special Easterseals UCP EMPOWER Afterschool Program in North Carolina. The program sponsored by Trillium Health Resources is aimed at helping children with homework, activities and socialization.
The children received a treat when Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) students included them in an outreach project. The EMPOWER children were invited to a community Build-A-Bear event. College students kindly helped the afterschool program children including Kieasia pick out the perfect bear. Kieasia was thrilled to make and take home her new cuddle creation.
Today we celebrate beautiful moments like this on Bring Your Teddy Bear to Work or School Day. The EMPOWER children plan to continue connecting with ECSU students including being part of their upcoming homecoming parade on October 14.
