Easterseals UCP "EMPOWERS" the Living Swell Lifestyle

NAGS HEAD, NC, December 21, 2016

Each afternoon, participants with the Easterseals UCP after school program run, jump, or dance their hearts out while fueling up on healthy snacks and water to enrich their minds, bodies, and souls.

Through generous funding by Trillium Resources, Easterseals UCP has implemented new recreational programs for individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities throughout the South East region, including Dare County. The summer camps and after school programs allow the participants to EMPOWER their lives by engaging and motivating people through opportunities in wellness, education, and recreation.

Surf Pediatrics recently held a contest for individuals and groups to showcase their Living Swell mentality, to improve one’s overall well-being physically, mentally, and morally while taking action to better themselves and their community.  Daily the EMPOWER Dare program strives to teach and engage these students in just that manner and was humbled to be awarded one of the winners of their challenge.

The students were beyond excited to be awarded this awesome towel with the Living Swell motto and a generous donation to their local charity, the Outer Banks SPCA.   We are grateful to Surf Pediatrics for engaging and challenging our community members to take ownership of their own health and wellbeing and to always have your neighbors back!
