Congratulations to Roger Miller, 24, an individual with mild MR who receives services through the Easter Seals UCP Employment Services Program. Roger was voted by his peers at Publix on South Boulevard in Charlotte as Associate of the Month.
This is a new program this Publix store has started and Roger receives the first honor.
Belinda Bishop, an Easter Seals CRT, which is a long-term support person, has assisted Roger for years helping him from the time he graduated from high school. She’s guided him through the employment process. Roger started at Steak and Shake on South Blvd in Charlotte. About a year ago, when the Publix opened up, Roger received a job there.
Roger began his career at Publix stocking shelves. Now he works at the courtesy desk as well as bags and carts groceries.
Publix #1453 Store Manager, Tom Zemaitis said in an achievement letter to Roger, “ You have proven to be an excellent role model for all Publix associates, and through “delivering Your Best”, you are helping us achieve success in our mission to be the Premier Quality Food Retailer in the world. You are truly an asset to Public. We thank you for your hard work, dedication and premier customer service.”
Roger is an example of how Easter Seals UCP’s Employment Services are successful with supportive community businesses like Publix. Congrats Roger on your milestone!
