Thanks to a federal grant, Easterseals UCP of NC and VA is able to assist survivors of Hurricane Matthew. The mission of the federally funded program, HOPE 4 NC, is to assist individuals and communities recovering from the challenging effects of Hurricane Matthew by providing community-based outreach and psychoeducational services.

This model is unique, as our trained staff has consistently worked in these communities including Edgecombe, Lenoir, Sampson and Wayne counties.  This mission hits close to home for many of our counselors, as they are Hurricane Matthew survivors themselves.

Hope 4 NC is FREE and ANONYMOUS.  Counselors do not classify, label, or diagnose individuals and case files aren’t kept.  Sessions are conducted in non-traditional, community-based settings such as libraries, community centers, churches or homes.  In addition to individual sessions, our teams provide group-counseling sessions, public education, and assist families with referrals should there be a need for further mental health or substance abuse services.

For more information or to speak with a counselor, please call 866-611-5651.  If you would like more information about this topic, please contact Melissa Harrell at 919-922-0887 or email at melissa.harrell@eastersealsucp.org.
