New Castle, VA - Amy Feuerberg absolutely loves Camp Easterseals UCP. Every year, she looks forward to swimming, canoeing, horseback riding and toasting marshmallows with friends and staff at this special overnight camp nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. For children and adults with varying disabilities, Camp Easterseals UCP is a place where they can be themselves.
Last month, Amy, decided to create a fundraiser to support people who want to go to camp, but can’t afford it. Amy, who is 27 years old and has autism, had hoped to raise $2,000 during the month of January. Her family is happy to report that she reached her goal and exceeded it by raising over $2400 which equals two weeks of camp!
Amy said, “Camp is expensive and not everyone has enough money to go. That’s why I wanted to raise money for camp scholarships for people just like me. Some can't talk. Some can't walk. Some can't sit up in a chair. But we can all participate and have fun at camp. The counselors are wonderful, and they love us.” She calls Camp Easterseals UCP the best camp in the world.
