Easterseals UCP helps young children and their families

GREENVILLE, N.C., January 9, 2017

PDF Press Release: Child First Award

Hard work has paid for the Child First NC staff.  The Pinehurst Conference Committee selected Child First NC for the Programs of Excellence Award for Best Practices.

Child First North Carolina is a collaborative effort with Trillium Health Resources, Easterseals UCP, Child First National Program Office and North Carolina Council of Community Programs.  The program is an evidence-based two-generation model that works with very vulnerable young children and families, providing intensive, home-based services.

2017 child first award

Child First NC works to create or improve nurturing parent-child relationships that help protect children from the damage caused by high stress environments such as poverty, homelessness, domestic violence or child abuse and neglect.

To date, Trillium Heath Resources has trained more than 30 Child First clinical teams, including staff at Easterseals UCP.   A 2011 study shows that Child First children improved in areas of language, behavior, and mental health.

Congratulations to the staff at Child First NC!
