Angela: Back on Track

Employment services-Angela

Easter Seals UCP Employment Services Program has helped Angela completely turn her life around.  Angela, who has a mental health diagnosis, served 15 years in prison and was determined to get on the right track.  With the help of an Easter Seals UCP Job Coach Eric Sechriest, Angela sought work back at Biscuitville, a place she had once worked.  Angela’s job coach believed in her and arranged for an interview at Biscuitville in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The manager saw the determination in Angela and agreed to give her job.  Angela has taken her position as a biscuit maker seriously.  During the past six months she has never been late—even on days when she can’t get transportation to her job, she simply walks.  Angela recently received a dollar raise and is doing quite well.  In fact, she’s planning on moving into her own apartment.  She’s received the support and opportunity to live with a family member during this transitional time in her life.

“No matter what eventually happens with Angela, I am proud to know her and be a small part in her recent success,” said Eric Sechriest, Easter Seals UCP Job Coach.
