Easterseals UCP’s Regional Education Assessment Crisis Services Habilitation (REACH) program in Northern Virginia is beginning new and exciting services starting in January! The program will be expanding an array of REACH services to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health and/or behavioral needs.
REACH is designed to meet the crisis support needs of individuals who have a developmental disability and are experiencing crisis events which put them at risk for homelessness, incarceration, hospitalization, and/or danger to self or others. REACH offers an additional layer of support to Emergency Services, the state hospital system, and caregivers who work most closely with individuals with a developmental disability (DD).
The teams provide crisis intervention, training, consultation, and crisis stabilization in conjunction with all of individual’s community-based services. A top priority is to help the individual remain in his/her home or community placement. We offer a residential crisis home that provides a therapeutic environment and short-term resources for crisis prevention and stabilization. Any paid or unpaid support in the individual’s life can refer to VA REACH services by calling the regional crisis and referral line.
