Easterseals UCP spreads awareness during Developmental Disabilities Month
Stevie Toole is living independently thanks to Individual and Community Services at Easterseals UCP
Melissa has been spreading warm wishes to hundreds of patients at New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Women and Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina. With the help of her Individual Community Support (ICS) Paraprofessional, Melissa has delivered more than 100 new, hand-made quilts to children and women spending the Holiday in the hospital. Her mother’s quilting group makes the quilts each year, and Melissa volunteers to transport them to the hospital nursing staff. Melissa, who is 26 years old and has autism, is happy to make others warm this winter.
