Easter Seals is pleased to announce that Betty Welsh, Military Family Advocate, will be the Honorary Chair of the 2017 Advocacy Awards Dinner. Since 2004 leaders in business, government relations, and professional services have joined military and government dignitaries at the annual Advocacy Awards to support vital Easter Seals programs and honor advocates who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to advancing opportunities for children and adults with disabilities or special needs, including military personnel, veterans, and their families.

Betty Welsh and her husband, General Mark Welsh (Ret.), the 20th Air Force Chief of Staff, were honored at the 2016 Advocacy Awards Dinner for their unwavering commitment to helping servicemen and women and veterans reach their fullest potential. Mrs. Welsh has been an active member of the Advocacy Awards Ambassador Committee for several years, ensuring that Easter Seals is not the best kept secret for both the military or civilian families in our community. She uses her platform to share the story of Easter Seals and other service organizations to inform caregivers of the services available to them and their loved ones.

Easter Seals will host the Advocacy Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. The event will honor Ellyn Dunford, Spouse of General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Dan Valenzuela, President of Safeway Eastern Division, both of whom have dedicated their careers to improving life and providing awareness for military personnel and their families.
